The Ann Arbor Public Schools Board of Education has ratified a tentative agreement with teachers, office professionals, and para-educator employees.
The one-year contract will increase pay and benefit packages between 2 and 2.25%. Each employee group will negotiate how they will distribute the funds. Linda Carter, president of the Ann Arbor Education Association, says her teachers need the raise.
"This is a wonderful town to live in, but it's also a very expensive town to live in. And many of our newer members are paying off student loans, they're starting families..."
The board also extended the next school year calendar by five days as required by the state law.
