It’s the start of a new fiscal year for Ann Arbor, and that means a lot for the city.
Economic development in the city is moving forward, according to Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor.
He says the city’s $370 million budget for the year includes funding for seven new staff positions, including a police deputy and an increase in staff for the Housing Department.
“We’ll be adding two new members to support the housing commission. This will be funded internally by the Housing Commission. Affordable housing is an important goal that we in the city are devoted to promoting."
The city also added $100,000 to the budget for new streetlights. Taylor says one of the next big issues in the months ahead for City Councilwill be building a new train station in the city.
