Lisa Barry

This week, "Art and Soul" is the art of well-being.  89.1 WEMU's Lisa Barry is joined by local parenting expert Nancy Serlin, who talks about teaching coping skills and resiliency to kids and how they learn from their families.

Serlin talks about the importance of keeping lines of communication open between parents and children.  She says it is never too late to talk to your children.

Serlin also talks about the benefits of letting kids fail and the lessons to be learned from that.

She advised parents to speak openly about suicides giving children an opportunity to express their feelings.
