The City of Ypsilanti has created a housing expenditure program for residents who need financial assistance during the COVID-19 crisis.
Through a partnership with Washtenaw County’s “Barrier Busters,”a social service group, the city will distribute $75,000 from its emergency housing fund. Council Member Steve Wilcoxen from the second ward says, last year, even before the pandemic, Ypsilanti residents turned to Barrier Busters for help.
"There were 584 requests to the county for help and 425 of those came from Ypsilanti."
The funds will help residents pay for rent, mortgage, and utility bills.
