Washtenaw County

Later this week, Washtenaw County’s broadband task forceis expected to release the results of a broadband study they conducted earlier this year.

Barbara Fuller is the chair of the task force and says the findings will refute areport from the Federal Communications Commission that indicates that areas in our county have higher levels of broadband coverage than they really do.  She says the task force conducted a thorough study.

"There was a speed test, so when someone is not certain about what’s broadband, yeah, I can get the internet, what’s broadband? There was actually a speed test that was done that was then linked back to the parcel numbers."

Fuller says the county’s findings will help them apply for federal funding to improve the broadband service in our area.
