The Michigan Nurses Association isfiling a legal briefin support of Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Stay At Home Order.

Governor Whitmer is currently embroiled in an ongoing lawsuit with state lawmakers over the extent and use of her emergency powers during the current public health crisis.

The Vice President of theMichigan Nurses Association, Katie Scott, says the stay-at-home orders play an important part in slowing the spread of the coronavirus while a vaccine is developed.

“And so, what we want is just for people to stay safe.  Don’t have a resurgence, and that is our profound worry that if the orders are lifted, that’s what will happen,” Scott says.

Scott says similar spikes have already occurred in other states and countries that have lifted their stay-at-home bans.
