Everyone knows the change of seasons in Michigan means an increase in road construction.  A couple of new projects will likely mean bigger headaches for local commuters.

The official closure of southbound I-275in Wayne and Oakland counties is now scheduled for 12:01 Monday, instead of 9 AM which had been previously announced.  That leaves 100,000 vehicles a day looking for a new route from 5 mile to the I-96/I-696/M-5 interchange.

There is a lot of prep work going on for the project over the weekend prompting state traffic officials to suggest avoiding both sides of I-275 in the closure area Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, construction on the 8 mile road bridge over US-23 begins on Monday.
