Hundreds of peony plants are beginning to bloom in the Ann Arbor Nichols Arboretum.

More than 270 historic varieties are planted there. They are part of the largest collection of heirloom herbaceous peonies in North America.

The peony blossoms are expected to peak in early June in a sea of multi-colored pink, white, and red blossoms.  Although a few peonies have no fragrance, the vast majority have a range of scents from delicate to bold.

There will be a special concert of "Peony Blossoms and Pure Melodies" in the Arb on Sunday, June 5th as 2:00pm.
