Funding cuts are prompting the elimination of more than two dozen beds at an Ann Arbor homeless shelter.

The Delonishomeless shelter on West Huron Street in downtown Ann Arbor is eliminating 27 beds due to a loss of funding.

Ellen Schulmeister is the executive director of the Shelter Association ofWashtenawCounty.

"We had some funding cuts, and, as an organization, we decided that it's time to close those 27 beds, so that we can get a little expense relief on our financials."

The center typically has a wait list for people needing a place to stay but will eliminate the number of available beds over the next several months through attrition as people move out.
