Washtenaw County's Board of Commissioners is holding a special meeting tonight to choose someone to complete the term of former commissioner Conan Smith.

Conan Smith recently resigned to pursue another job with the county.

Commissioner Dan Smithsays they'll be interviewing eight candidates and will choose Conan's replacement with a simple majority vote.

"Five votes needed to appoint the replacement, and they'll be eight people, so, you need five of the eight. But, however we choose to get the five votes is fine."

Because Conan Smith recently won the Democratic party primary for his former seat on the board, it's possible he could be re-elected in the fall and potentially have to resign a second time.
