This week's "Art and Soul" is all about the visual arts. 89.1 WEMU's Lisa Barry sits down with Omari Rush from the Ann Arbor Art Center and with a local artist who's emerging from the local art scene.
Ann Arbor artist Amanda Orris a graduate of Dexter High School. She started her art career by designing wedding invitations and other paper products. She also does personalized original montage pictures of Ann Arbor and other communities commissioned by clients. She has participated in Art Prize in Grand Rapids and also interned with the program.
Coming up next week is the Ann Arbor Art Fair, which kicks off with the Townie Street Party on Monday, July 17. The Art Fair itself runs from Thursday, July 20 through Sunday, July 23.
Another way to get an art career going is by applying for a mini-grant through the Arts Alliance. Applications will be accepted through August 3.
Finally, coming up this month, the Ann Arbor Art Center will be presenting the next "Straight Up" exhibition, featuring works by Shingo Brown. It will be at the Alley Bar on Monday, July 24 from 7-10 PM.
