Art & Soul: The Culinary Arts - Local Restaurant Owner Creates A Blend of Community, History, Food

This week's Art and Soul is about the culinary arts in our area.  Lisa Barry is joined by local food expert and writer Jessica Webster, Sunday afternoon on 89.1 WEMU as host of "The In Crowd."

Ann Arbor restaurant owner Sava Farah is this week's special guest as she announces plans for a new restaurant and celebrates ten years in the hospitality business in Ann Arbor.

SavCo, the hospitality group behind Ann Arbor food businesses Sava’s, Aventura, and Tavolina Catering Events, has acquired the former Lord Fox property, most recently operated as Roger Monk’s Tavern, at 5400 Plymouth Road in historic Dixboro.

Sava Farah said the old Lord Fox goes back to the 1800's and was a favorite stop along the way for travelers between Detroit and Chicago.  They plan major rehabilitation work on the restaurant and hope to open in Spring/Summer 2018.

The theme of the new restaurant, which has not yet been named, will be inspired by a resort beach style and will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Sava Farah says they plan to take advantage of the six acres of property surrounding the restaurant, preserving the wetlands and natural habitat, but someday growing their own food.  It will be a farm-to-table concept inspired restaurant and tap into the Dixboro area where a lot of farming is going on.
