A September 11th memorial servicewas held this morning at Eastern Michigan University.

With carnations in hand, over 70 people remembered those who died on September11th.  The group gathered around a steel beam from the World Trade Center that is now located at Pease Park at Eastern Michigan University.

Among them was EMU student Calena Wilson, who was two years old when the attacks took place.

"I decided to come out this morning, because I've always heard of all the lives lost, and I wasn't there obviously, but it's just sad that that had to happen. And I just wanted to pay my respects in anyway I can."

Stories were told about people who worked at the World Trade Center and became heroes that day by helping others evacuate.Non-commercial, fact based reporting is made possible by your financial support.  Make your donation to WEMU todayto keep your community NPR station thriving.
