89.1 WEMU'S Lisa Barry is joined by local food expert and writer Jessica Webster as they talk about the vibrant restaurant scene in Washtenaw County.  This week, they are joined by a special guest, the co-owner of The Lunch Room and the recently opened Detroit Street Filling Station in Ann Arbor, Joel Panozzo.

Panozzo talks about his three vegan restaurants in Ann Arbor and how some diners may not realize there is no meat on the menu.  He also talks about the donations he makes from his profits.  Since January 2016, he has operated a program called “10% for the Community,” which helped local charities, as well as those in need in Flint.

Panozzo and his staff recently harvested freshly grown vegetables from their farm south of Belleville.

Lisa and Jessica also talk about "pizza in the news," where it’s out with the old and in with the new.  Pizza Pino has closed, but Buddy’s Pizza is opening soon in Pittsfield Township.  However, no one knows when.  In fact, they are having a contest for people to try and guess when Buddy's is opening.
