Storm Knocks Out Power In Washtenaw County

Donna Iadipaolo

Trees have been uprooted and power lines downed in today's thunderstorms.  Several trees were knocked down in portions of Ann Arbor as winds gusted to near 60-miles per hour.

The largest pockets without power in washtenaw County are on the west side of Ann Arbor near the Jackson-Dexter Avenue split, and the Green Road area south of Plymouth.

In Superior Township over one-hundred customers are without power near Dixboro and Plymouth.

Other minor outages are scattered through the county.

Like many, I first came to this area when I started school at the University of Michigan, then fell in love with the community and haven’t left. After graduating from U of M in the mid 1990’s I interned at WDET for several years, while also working a variety of jobs in Ann Arbor. Then in 1999 I joined the WEMU news team.
