Learn More About Ann Arbor School's International Baccalaureate Program Tonight
Questions about what the coming International Baccalaureate program will mean for Ann Arbor students? Tonight's the first chance to get some answers from the district.
Mitchell Elementary Principal Kevin Karr says the first year of the transition will see relatively minimal curriculum changes. Karr says one change will be the addition of Spanish for grades K-5 at Mitchell. However he says the bulk of the work in the first year is aimed towards planning and staff development for the second and third years of the program.
Karr believes the new IB program will take all that's great about Ann Arbor Schools including the district's diversity and combine it with excellent international teaching practices.
Tonight's meeting is at Mitchell starting at 6:30, with additional information sessions planned for Scarlett Middle School on May 20th and Huron High School May 27th. All three meetings will include the same information so students, families and community members can go to any one of the meetings.
