The Washtenaw Coordinated Funders has donated $50,000 to help create an organization that will provide community services to Latinos in the area.

The grant was awarded after the county'shealth department released its first ever Latino Health Survey last year.  Results revealed that Latinos have less access to health care than other residents in Washtenaw County.

Community leader FelipeRiaño, who helped with the survey, will also assist with the new project.

"What we are going to be doing this year is talking with the community and going to the houses of the community to see what they want to see in the organization."

Over 16,000 Latinos live in Washtenaw County.
