A 1,4 Dioxaneplume has contaminated the well water of a family in Washtenaw County.

As a result, both the Washtenaw County Public Health Department and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality have provided bottled water to the ScioTownship family.

Health department spokesperson Susan Cerniglia says a county public health nurse has met with the family to address any health concerns they may have.  As of now, the county says that's the only family the nurse has met with about 1,4 Dioxane.

State and Washtenaw County officials are looking into options to quickly clean-up the contamination in the area that was caused by a local company decades ago.  If you have any concerns about a possible 1,4 Dioxane contamination you can contact the Washtenaw County Public Health Department.
