The first fatality from the coronavirus, or COVID-19, has been reported in Washtenaw County.  We get details from 89.1 WEMU's Lisa Barry.

Described as an elderly, adult male with underlying health conditions, the Washtenaw County Health Department revealed the death Sunday afternoon.  The man died from the coronavirus at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor, where he had been admitted the day before.

County health officer Jimena Loveluckoffered condolences to the man's family adding his death is an "urgent reminder to us all."

She stated that "strong mitigation and prevention efforts are already in place to stop the spread of COVID-19," including advice not to leave home, except for essential tasks, such as getting groceries or seeking medical care.
