The public is invited to a "Police-Community Relations/Black Lives Matter Task Force meeting"tonight in Ypsilanti, which had a recent change in venue.
The special Ypsilanti task force has been meeting since last September, focusing on proposed revisions to the Citizen Complaint Process for police and best practices for creating a Citizen Review Board.
Ypsilanti Mayor Amanda Edmonds and council member Nicole Brown, along with John Shuler of the city's human relations commission and Ypsilanti Police, will share what they've been talking about for the past nine months and ideas and suggestions for moving forward.
Mayor Edmonds says they are only as strong as the constituents and voices they represent, so they are looking forward to hearing what best ways many more people can engage in this work in hopes of avoiding tragedies that have occurred recently in Ferguson, Dallas, and Baton Rouge.
The meeting will begin at 7pm in the auditorium of Ypsilanti High School-- on the corner of Packard & Hewitt-- where there is ample seating and parking.
