The City of Ypsilanti starts work on a new affordable housing project today.
The city is tearing down the 75 year-old Parkridge Homes complex on Armstrong Drive to make way for a new neighborhood of duplexes and 2-family homes.
It's part of a larger effort by the city to overhaul its Section 8 housing.
Demolition of the current property is expected to take three months, and construction of the new one will take another 15.
