2014 Ann Arbor Film Festival Begins

The 52nd annual Ann Arbor Film Festival kicked off last night at the Michigan Theater with a variety of short films, including three North American premieres and a world premiere.

This year’s festival includes over 200 films, videos, and live performances, including 30 world, North American, and U-S premieres.

Kathryn Ziegler is a film student at the Center for Creative Studies.  Ziegler thinks Ann Arbor’s Film Festival is great for filmmakers like her.

Aristea Fulcher and her father Ian Fulcher of Ann Arbor also attended the opening night.  Aristea Fulcher thinks the Film Festival is great because there is a wide variety of shorts so no matter your tastes you will find something you like.  The Fulchers always hit the animation films and appreciate the kids films on Saturdays.

The Film Festival runs through Sunday.  Events are at the Michigan Theater, the State Theater, the Performance Network Theater, and the University of Michigan Musuem of Art, with after parties at a variety of bars.  Click here for more information on the 52nd Annual Ann Arbor Film Festival.

Like many, I first came to this area when I started school at the University of Michigan, then fell in love with the community and haven’t left. After graduating from U of M in the mid 1990’s I interned at WDET for several years, while also working a variety of jobs in Ann Arbor. Then in 1999 I joined the WEMU news team.
