creative:impact - Bringing The New UM Natural History Museum To Life

The University of Michigan's Natural History Museum has moved to the Biological Sciences Building on campus and is getting ready for an April 14th grand re-opening!   In this week's "creative:impact," WEMU's David Fair and Arts Alliance CEO Deb Polich talk about what it takes to carry such a massive redesign project with the museum's capital project manager, Lynne Friman.

Creative industries in Washtenaw County add hundreds of millions of dollars to the local economy.  In the weeks and months to come, 89.1 WEMU's David Fair and co-host Deb Polich, the President and CEO of The Arts Alliance, explore the myriad of contributors that make up the creative sector in Washtenaw County.

About Lynne Friman

Lynne Friman has spent more than 30 years working for arts and culture organizations.  Her focus is on management, strategic planning, museum development, exhibition design, project development & facilitation; working with universities, museums, theatres, corporations and community arts organizations. 

She is currently the Capital Project Manager at the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History and LSA Facilities.

Lynne was Project Manager for the high profile reinstallation projects for the Detroit Institute of Arts and the University of Michigan's Museum of Art.  She is the former Director of Facility Development and Experience Design at The Henry Ford and Head of Design at the Detroit Historical Museum; past chair of the Arts Alliance and President of the National Association for Museum Exhibition.

She is board chair of Salt Valley Arts, and sits on Pittsfield Township's Art and Excellence Committee.  Lynne also served on the Washtenaw County Economic Development Committee and was the founding Chair of the City of Saline Arts & Culture Committee.
