#WEMU50 Listener Poll for Outstanding music 1965-2015
As 2015 develops, so did WEMU’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. We began broadcasting at 10 watts to EMU dormitories in 1965 and are now the award-winning and nationally recognized NPR, news, jazz and blues service our listeners depend on
We asked our listeners over the course of 2015:
“What are your favorite jazz, blues and Americana recordings of each year of WEMU’s existence? We welcome your write-in thoughts.”
Our small staff did huge things this year with many listener activities, online and in person- and it paid off with large increases in our online footprint, audience interaction, and fundraising efforts. Thousands of respondents (all online) pushed to our web site by on-air announcements, social media posts and web posts throughout 2015 made this on our of most successful digital engagement campaigns ever.
All of the ballot results come together in a special broadcast of “50 Years Of WEMU” on December 8th – our official anniversary with the help of our listeners. The list of “50 Years Of WEMU” truly reflect our audience and their unique musical tastes. (sample ballot)
