Ann Arbor Celebrates 4th Annual Ukrainian Cultural Festival and Fundraiser
The Ann Arbor branch of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA), is hosting its 4th annual Vyshyvanka Day celebration, a festive community gathering. Vyshyvanka Day is celebrated each year on the third Thursday of May in Ukraine and internationally, showcasing Ukraine’s unique cultural heritage through the distinctive patterns of an embroidered shirt, vyshyvanka (pronounced vysh-Y-vahn-ka). Guests are welcome (or encouraged) to wear flower crowns, vyshyvanka shirts, or any Ukrainian-themed T-shirt, but all are welcome to come as they are!
This celebration is also a fundraiser for Hospitallers, a Ukrainian volunteer organization of paramedics who save lives on the frontlines.
Sponsors: TeaHaus, Zingerman’s, Ukrainian Selfreliance Michigan Federal Credit Union, Ukrainian American Archives and Museum.
Music: The Tryzub (Trident) Trio Jazz Combo will be playing live music – piano, double bass, and drums.
Food and Beverages: Nalysnyky (Ukrainian stuffed crepes) by Ptashka Crepes, Varenyky (pierogi) by Ukrainian Homemade Food, Ukrainian beer & cocktails by York.
Activities: Guests will have the opportunity to support the fundraiser in a variety of ways: buy raffle tickets for gift baskets, take a selfie in a stunning floral headdress, Vyshyvanka embroidery display, “Ink as Identity” Ukrainian Tattoo Exhibit, Ukrainian art, and more!
Please join us in this cultural celebration in support of a worthy cause. Come and help us support Ukraine!
