Kitty Donohoe
Ann Arbor-based songwriter and Michigan Emmy winner Kitty Donohoe returns to the MAMA’s Coffeehouse stage to open our new season. DJ Rich Warren (WFMT-Chicago) calls Kitty “far above and beyond most singer-songwriters.” She writes music that has been called “earthy, luminous and compelling” (The Weekender) and she’s been praised in the press equally for her voice, her musicality, and her songwriting. Sing Out!, one of the oldest and most respected folk music magazines in the industry, says that Kitty is “one of the rare singer-songwriters to sensuously weave words and melody into a strong and mesmerizing fabric.”
Kitty will be accompanied by bassist/vocalist Carol Palms (and perhaps another guest artist or two)

Jennifer Ashley & Joel Simpson open the show
This folk duo blends traditional songs and instrumentation along with beautiful vocal harmonies reminiscent of famous duos such as Ian & Silvia and The Everly Brothers. Both bringing a classical perspective to their duo, Jennifer Ashley & Joel Simpson have reached a new level with incorporating elements of jazz, popular music and other modern styles in their arrangements.
