The Michigan Jazz Festival has announced a new competition for area amateur jazz vocalists.
The 2023 Rising Star Vocal Jazz Competition invites singers ages 14 to 114 to submit YouTube videos of their vocal performances. A panel of judges will select 5 finalists who will be invited to perform in the Finals Competition hosted by Ramona Collins at Aretha’s Jazz Café on Sunday, May 21. The first-place vocalist will win a cash prize and will perform with Collins in the 28th annual Michigan Jazz Festival on Sunday, July 16th.
