Ann Arbor's mayor and council members were held in a side room while police confronted the group.

Ann Arbor officials are considering how to handle anti-Israel protesters after a group disrupted a City Council meeting.

The Ann Arbor News reports police escorted dozens of protesters out of the council meeting Thursday. They're calling for a public hearing on a city resolution to boycott Israel. They've said they'll continue demonstrating at council meetings until members respond.
Ann Arbor Mayor John Heiftje and council members were held in a side room while police confronted the group. The mayor says the group's leader made "absurd" statements during the public comment period. He says the council can't stop attacks on Gaza with a resolution.
Jewish Federation of Greater Ann Arbor members voiced support for the decision not to hold a hearing. They say the city shouldn't take a position on such conflicts.
