Vibraphone, Marimbas and More on 89.1 Jazz

We played various approaches of vibraphone and marimbas with some piano, bass and drums. The initial inspiration for the feature came from "The Bespoke Man's Narrative", the new CD by pianist/composer Aaron Diehl featuring vibraphonist Warren Wolf. Diehl's debut CD has been highly anticipated for over two years!

We showcased Aaron Diehl's musical prowess with a cover and an original this morning. We also hit on some vibes with piano from Cecilia Smith and Marjorie Hyams with George Shearing for Women's History Month. Milt Jackson with the Modern Jazz Quartet, Bobby Hutcherson, Jason Marsalis, Johnny Lytle, Joe Locke and Stefon Harris were among other vibraphonists we featured this morning!

Her early life was full of changes as the daughter of a well-respected cancer research scientist who moved his family about, but one thing was constant: the love of music instilled by her mother.
