Issues of the Environment: Promoting plant-based diets in Ann Arbor to create a more sustainable community
There are intersections of plant-based diets and improved climate. Ann Arbor will spend hundreds of thousands of dollars over the next decade to promote plant-based diets to supplement and support its A2Zero Climate Action Plan. #OTGYpsi: Specialized programs show Ypsilanti's youth safer alternatives to resorting to gun violence
New gun violence intervention programs founded in Ypsilanti are beginning to show successes. And the success is being measured by the number of young people who are being convinced that there's an alternative to gun-related revenge. The city of Ann Arbor is considering a ban on natural gas stoves in new construction. In fact, the planning commission has already put that proposal forward but there are measures at the state level that would prohibit such a ban. What will be the future of gas stoves locally? creative:impact - What’s in every five-letter Wordle? T-R-A-C-Y!
Wordle, the five-letter online word puzzle became a worldwide phenomenon as soon as it was released in 2021. Now published by the New York Times, Ann Arborite Tracy Bennett was named editor of the puzzle last November. Tracy joins "creative:impact" host Deb Polich, and they have a little fun talking about and playing the game.

One approach that is seeing particular success is mental wellness writing. Ypsilanti-based SOS Community Services and its "Parents as Teachers" program helps parents learn how to foster healthy growth and development for their children. #OTGYpsi: WCC's 'Adult Transitions' makes adult education accessible and affordable for Washtenaw County residents
Getting an education as an adult can be challenging and costly. But for the last 25 years in Washtenaw County, the organization “Adult Transitions” has been helping adults get their GED, take English as a Second Language classes, and much more. WEMU's Josh Hakala and Concentrate Media's Rylee Barnsdale talk about this path to education with Bonnie Truhn, the program director of Adult Transitions.
