Ypsilanti, MI – Cuts in state revenue sharing funds are forcing hard times on the city of Ypsilanti.
Last night, City Manager Ed Koryzno unveiled a 13-point-five million dollar budget for fiscal year 2003-2004. The budget eliminates funds for recreation department staffers, thus eliminating the department. The cuts will force the closure of the Senior Center and the Parkridge Community Center by the end of June. The city's swimming pool would close at summer's end, the Freighthouse in Depot Town would close at the end of June 2004.
City council will hold the first of five public hearings on the proposed budget tonight at city hall.
