Robotics Competition Returns to EMU

Ypsilanti, MI – More than four-thousand people are expected to attend this weekend's Great Lakes Regional robotics competition at Eastern Michigan University's convocation center.
This is the ninth year in a row the competition has been held at EMU. It's sponsored by FIRST -- For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology -- a national organization founded by accomplished inventor Dean Camen to encourage students to excel in math and science.
65 high school robotics teams from around Michigan and the country will form alliances and test their robots' abilities to score points on the playing field. Several teams from Washtenaw County schools are competing.
Preliminary rounds will be held today, with semi-finals and the championship round on Saturday.
The event is free and open to the public.
