Ann Arbor, MI – Ann Arbor's city council has approved the 2006-2007 general fund budget of 77-point-six million dollars, and an overall budget of 292-point-five million dollars.
Council approval came after about 30 minutes of discussion Monday night.
Mayor John Heiftje says the quick approval is one of the benfits of working on a two-year budget cycle.
City Manager Roger Fraser says a change in the way the city budgets for information technology will help the city keep those costs in line.
For the first time, I-T was treated as a business, with each city department charged for the services and equipment they use.
