WEMU and The Humane Society of Huron Valley Team Up

WEMU has teamed up with the Humane Society of Huron Valley to add another fundraising option during WEMU’s spring fundraising campaign.  Donors who select the special CD premium, NPR’s Driveway Moments:  Cat Tales or Dog Tales CD will have $5.00 of their contribution go to the Humane Society.  There are other options to add funds for the Humane Society as well.

“WEMU and the Humane Society already have several common friends. Pets, and especially rescue pets, are hugely important to our staff and to our audience. When I saw these CDs I saw a great opportunity for us to work with one of our outstanding community organizations for our mutual benefit. We’re looking forward to a friendly competition among our donors to see which CD generates more support. If it’s Cat Tales, our donation will go to cat adoption care. If it’s Dog Tales, it’ll go to dog adoption care. But, as we see it, everyone wins.” - Molly Motherwell, WEMU General Manager

Current WEMU donors have the opportunity to give through the recently-sent mail campaign.  WEMU’s on-air pledge drive runs April 4-11 and listeners may give online anytime at wemu.org.  WEMU will use its web page and Facebook page to promote the partnership and to post pictures of on-air hosts and their pets.

“Music and pets make life so much more enjoyable! We are very excited to be included in the WEMU Spring Fundraising Campaign. If our collaboration helps in any way to keep listener-supported radio alive and well in our community, we are glad to be a part of that.” - Deb Kern, Humane Society of Huron Valley Marketing Director

WEMU is a listener-supported, NPR affiliate with a format of jazz, news, and blues in addition to NPR news, information, and cultural programming.  The station broadcasts to an eight county area that includes all or part of Washtenaw, Wayne, Oakland, Livingston, Lenawee, Monroe, and Lucas (OH), operates WEMU2, an unhosted mix of blues, roots, and Americana programming on HD radio, and webcasts live 24 hours a day at wemu.org.
