Two of the biggest teams in soccer will meet this summer at Michigan Stadium. Manchester United will take on Real Madrid in Ann Arbor on August 2nd, as part of the Guinness International Champions Cup.
The game has long been rumored, as the rest of the Champions Cup schedule was released earlier, but the official announcement for the Michigan Stadium game came today.
The university has rented out the stadium like they did for the Winter Classic game between the Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs New Year's Day. However the arrangement comes with pre-sale opportunities for Michigan season ticket holders, faculty and staff, and other groups before going on sale to the general public Thursday.
Real Madrid's roster includes Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale of Wales. Manchester United features English striker Wayne Rooney.
