A five mile test track on University of Michigan's North Campus may be the birthplace of the next generation of vehicles.  The Michigan Mobility Transformation Center hopes to be testing automated and connected vehicles by September.

Director Peter Sweatman thinks they are creating a better transportation system than the one we've been using for the last 100 years.  It is Sweatman's hope that this work will bring new investors, businesses and jobs to the area.

Like many, I first came to this area when I started school at the University of Michigan, then fell in love with the community and haven’t left. After graduating from U of M in the mid 1990’s I interned at WDET for several years, while also working a variety of jobs in Ann Arbor. Then in 1999 I joined the WEMU news team.
