Ypsilanti Seeking Comment On Zoning Ordinance Revision

Bob Eccles

Ypsilanti's recent re-working of its Master Plan was only half of the process of developing a blueprint for future development.  The city's zoning ordinanceputs those changes into law, and that document is now up for public review.

City Planner Teresa Gillotti says public participation in the process is important because zoning not only touches every property in the city, but also outlines a broader vision for the city's future.

"Its important to kind of think about what do we want to have happen there in the future," Gillotti says.  "What do we want it to look like, what kind of activities we want to go on there, those sorts of things."

The city is holding a series of public meetings to get input on the zoning ordinance revisions before taking the document before the Planning Commission in October.

City Council will consider the zoning ordinance in November.
