The University Research Corridor alliance, which includes the University of Michigan, had a big economic impact in our state in 2014.
$17.5 billion is what the corridor contributed to Michigan through payroll, good services, and construction it used for research.
Jeff Mason, executive director of the corridor, says a good portion of that was used in Washtenaw County.
"In the region around Ann Arbor, it's about $5.8 billion that is going into that region."
Michigan State University and Wayne State University are the other two schools that make up the research center.
