Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority Addresses Parking Concerns

Andrew Cluley

The Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority has released a study that indicates that more parking is needed in downtown.

Downtown has about 14,000 employees and 6,000 residents.  Yet, there are only about 7,200 parking spaces.  Downtown Development Authority executive director SusanPollay says to address the issue, parking rates may need to increase and parking meter hours could change.

"Explore more ways to bring more bike share and car share, so people do take a bus downtown. They still have an option to get to a meeting using a car like a Zipcar."

The study projects that another 2,200 hundred residents may call downtown Ann Arbor home during the next five years.
