For the first time ever, WEMU is hosting a weekend only fundraiser today and tomorrow.
Because weekends are special at WEMU. From the moment you hear Scott Simon's reassuring voice on Saturday morning until the time Joe Tiboni stops the Big City Blues Cruise bus at 7:00PM on Sunday you know you're going to get something that's not so easy to find anymore.
Live and local radio.
Real time weather and traffic. Live operators to bring you breaking news when it happens. And so much great music it's amazing we can fit it into one weekend.
Motown and soul. Roots and Americana. Cuban, Latin, and Afro Cuban. Classic jazz. Modern jazz. Jazz vocals. And authentic blues.
WEMU is committed to live and local programs on the weekend, hosted by music professionals. I'm not going to kid you, it would cost us a lot less just to flip the switch and turn off the lights until Monday morning. There's a lot of syndicated programming out there.
But, if we did that, we wouldn't be WEMU.
For 55 years we have been live and local seven days a week. And the only way that will change is when the support goes away, and we just can't afford it anymore.
It's up to you to decide the future of weekends at WEMU. Please make your financial gift today to make sure WEMU stays WEMU.
Because weekends are special at WEMU.
Thank you.
