The Ride Will Continue To Require Face Masks

The Ride

The Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority, also known as The Ride, has issued a statement reminding people using public transportation they are still required to wear a mask, regardless of their vaccination status.

The announcement comes after the CDC and the State of Michigan both updated their guidelines for when and where masks need to be worn.

Bryan Smith, The Ride’s Deputy CEO of Operations, says they are obligated to follow mandates established by another federal agency.

“We take direction on these things from the Transportation Security Administration, and their mandate has not changed,” Smith says.

Smith says the TSA’s current mask mandate is set to expire on September 13, but it’s possible it could be revised before then.
