New Wave Of Michigan Lawmakers Elected
The Michigan Legislature has three new members after special elections Tuesday.
Republicans Gary Howell and Mary Whiteford won seats that formerly belonged to Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat. Those two lost their seats last year after a sex-and-cover-up scandal that has since resulted in criminal charges.
And one seat will likely open soon in the state Senate. Senator Virgil Smith (D-Detroit) has offered to step down as part of a pending plea deal. He faces felony assault and firearms charges.
