Vetoed Criminal Justice Bill Getting Revived
State lawmakers are taking another run at establishing a database for criminal justice information. The governor vetoed an earlier effort.
Lawmakers say it’s too hard for them to get statewide information about criminal justice statistics. Things like local jail capacity and return rates – and whether judges are deviating from sentencing guidelines.
“Really just fundamentally comes down to who’s in control, setting the priorities for the data that we’re gonna be looking for from the Criminal Justice Data Management System.”
