President Donald Trump’s campaign has filed a lawsuit in the US District Court for Western Michigan to block certification of the state’s election results. A similar case was also argued yesterday in the Wayne County Circuit Court. We have more from Rick Pluta.
These lawsuits take their place in a growing queue of legal challenges to President-elect Joe Biden’s still-unofficial victory in Michigan. The challenges try to call into question ballot security and the counting of absentee votes. But Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says she expects the election results will withstand all legal challenges.
“I believe that those who traffic in the circulation of demonstrably false narratives that our election was not safe, secure, and accurate irreparably harm the sanctity of our democracy.”
The judge in the Wayne County case has promised a decision will come no later than Friday. The deadline for the state to certify election results is November 23rd.
