Tom Helmer
Sports BroadcasterTom Helmer is a two-time Emmy award winning broadcaster who is currently the play-by-play voice of Eastern Michigan University Football and Basketball. His play-by-play career includes stints behind the microphone calling Major League Baseball games on television for the Colorado Rockies and most recently the Boston Red Sox. He has also called Big 12 and Pac 12 football, Pac 12 Men’s and Women’s Basketball, High School football, Men’s and Women’s swimming and diving, College gymnastics, Marathons and High School Hockey.
Tom started his broadcast career as a sports anchor making stops at KGET in Bakersfield, California, WZZM in Grand Rapids, Michigan and FOX 6 in San Diego, California. In 2006 he was hired by FOX Sports as the host of the nationally televised FSN Baseball report. That expanded into him quickly hosting two additional national shows. BCS Breakdown and The BCS Rankings Show. He also spent time as the lead host of the Colorado Rockies pregame and postgame shows.
Tom and his Wife Mindy currently live in Ann Arbor Michigan. They have four children.
