Ann Arbor Voters To Consider Affordable Housing And Street Repair Millages On November Ballot

City of Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor voters will consider three city proposals for next week’s November 3rd general election.

Proposal A is a 2.1 mill that would collect about $13.8 million a year for street, bridge and sidewalk repair and construction between 2022 and 2026.  Proposal B is a 0.20 mill that would raise about $1.3 million between 2021 and 2026 for the construction of new sidewalks.  Mayor Christopher Taylor says Proposal C is a 1-mill that would generate about $6.5 million a year during the next 20 years to create affordable housing.

Mayor Christopher Taylor: With economic segregation comes racial segregation. And it has gotten worse and worse every single day, housing is getting more and more unaffordable in Ann Arbor.

The proposed affordable housing units would be reserved for low-income individuals and families who make less than 60% of the Ann Arbor area median income, which was about $76,000 a year in 2019.
