Ann Arbor businesses and residents who are struggling to pay their property taxes on time because of COVID-19 will get a break this summer.
Ann Arbor’s city council passed a resolution to waive the August 1st late penalty charge for tax payments due in July. Council Member Kathy Griswold from the second ward says council also decided to reduce the September 1st late penalty charge from 5% to 2.5%.
"It sends a message of compassion, and we’re in this with you, and we’re going to try to work with you."
With these changes, the city stands to lose about $250,000.
