Some Republicans in the state House want to limit the governor’s ability to move money around within state budgets.  They passed a bill out of a state House committee Wednesday.  Cheyna Roth has more.

Christine Greig is leader of the Democrats in the state House.  She says she is so over this.

“To me, it’s just noise and really don’t care to engage in it at all.  We should be working on the budget and not all this other stuff.”

Here’s what’s going on.  Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed the state budget.  But then she made a lot of vetoes AND she moved around millions of dollars within department budgets.  She said she did this because Republicans weren’t working with her on the budget.

Now, GOP lawmakers want to put limits on her ability to move money around.  One bill would put a cap on how much money she could move.  And another would prevent certain types of budget items from being changed altogether…without a veto.
