The Washtenaw Intermediate School District, also known as WISD, says making sure school buses are safe for students to ride during COVID-19 is a priority for school districts that will offer in-person instruction in the fall.
WISD spokesperson Ashley Kryscynski says each district will be responsible for creating a school bus transportation plan for their students. However, all are required to follow Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s MI Safe Schools Roadmap that outlines safety measures for school buses during COVID-19.
Ashley Kryscynski: The use of hand sanitizer before entering the bus, hand sanitizer must be supplied on every bus. School bus drivers, staff and students in all grades from pre-K-12 need to wear a facial covering while they’re on the bus, if it’s medically feasible for them.
As of now, Saline Area Schools and Whitmore Lake Public Schools are among the districts in the area that will have in-person instruction in the fall.
