  • As of Feb. 25, 2025, Texas reported an outbreak of 124 cases of measles in the South Plains region since late January. In all of the United States, there were 285 measles cases in 2024 and 59 cases in 2023.

    Routine vaccination rates show statewide decline for children and adolescents

    With growing cases of measles and whooping cough cases in Michigan, there is now concern over new research that finds routine childhood and adolescent vaccination rates are declining statewide. WEMU’s Caroline MacGregor talks to Dr. Kao-Ping Chua, director of the Susan B. Meister Child Health Evaluation and Research (CHEAR) Center, and senior author and researcher at U-M Health C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, about the study's findings and implications.
